Component 1a
Component 1a covers how well a teacher knows their content, and how they apply their knowledge to teaching. According to the Danielson Framework, a good educator will exemplify disciplinary expertise, pedagogical content knowledge, and knowledge of interdisciplinary relationships and skills.
A good teacher is able to understand common misconceptions and how best to counteract them. Being an educator is not only about knowing the content/pedagogy, but also understanding how to break it down in order to effectively teach it to your students. Certain instructional styles may be better for different topics, and it is important to be able to discern that and make the right choices. A classroom also teaches many other skills, that may be more subtle. Without realizing, many students are learning non-academic skills like socializing, sharing, how to ask questions, etc. Teachers should be aware of this and make sure that they are not just teaching content but also other things that can be useful on a more daily basis.

Component 1b
1b is about getting to know your students. It is important for a teacher to understand students strengths and where they are in their learning. This can look like a survey or an ice breaker, usually done at the beginning of the year. In elementary it is also common to have a "about me" board where they display handouts of students favorite things. Elements of this component are knowledge of child and adolescent development, knowledge of the learning process, knowledge of students' skills knowledge and language proficiency, students interest and cultural heritage, and knowledge of students' special needs.
All of these things can make a student feel cared for, which creates a good learning environment. In order to most efficiently teach their students, an educator should get to know what their students life is like outside the classroom. They also should know what their students best way of learning is. This all contributes to how well they can educate different pupils. It can look like tailoring questions to students interests or using different instruction styles to help certain students. Also, a teacher must be able to recognize where they students are in their learning so they know what to cover and/or when to move on. Asking questions before starting unit, referred to as a background probe, is a good way to find out what students already know on a topic. Another element of this component is being able to understand how different ages work and how they think. A teacher must be able to see thing from their students perspective. They must also be aware of how different students have different needs that need to be met.

Component 1c
Component 1c is about how teachers should always be intentional with their instruction and content. Educators should always have a clear objective as well as make sure their students are aware of the expectations set for them. Elements of 1c are alignment to grade level standards, clarity of purpose, and integration of multiple aspects of student development.
Teachers should set high goals for their students, but remain fair in their grading and stick to the standards for that particular grade level. Students should also be told the purpose of what they are learning; the "why" behind the content. Oftentimes a teacher encounters a student who is convinced that they will never need to know what they are learning for their future years, so it is important to specify why it is important. It is also important for a teacher to integrate skills into their curriculum that is not academic based. For example, most children are taught how to share in their elementary school years. All of these things help a classroom run much smoother and keep it focused on what is important: the students learning.

Component 1d
1d concerns how well teachers use resources. Teachers want to choose the best materials for their students as well as keep up with all the new technology, which can increase student engagement and make them want to learn. Elements of this component include instructional materials, technology and digital resources, and support for students.
The materials a teacher uses in the classroom must be engaging yet challenging in order to be effective. They should be tailored to the students in the classroom. There are so many resources online these days. They are great for having students do independent work and overall expanding their knowledge. Resources online can also help support students who may be struggling. A teacher can pick resources that will particularly help the students who need the extra help.

Component 1e
The instructional material that a teacher chooses is important, which Danielson talks about in component 1e. The resources and materials used in a classroom are a large part of learning for the students, so its important that an educator is very intentional with what they use. Elements of this component include learning activities, instructional materials and resources, instructional groups, and lesson and unit structure.
In order to be the most efficient teacher possible, one should choose instructional material that corresponds best with their content. Knowledge of different instructional styles is very important and can make lesson plans a lot stronger. It is important to switch up instruction day-to-day, so lesson and unit planning helps a teacher to keep track of what they are doing each day. Group work is also very helpful to students' learning and can be a great way to complete work in the class.

Component 1f
Assessing student progress and learning is an important part of being an educator, as mentioned in 1f. Elements of this component are congruence with instructional goals, criteria and standards, and use for planning.
Instruction and assessment must correspond in order to be efficient. If they do not match, students will not be able to properly show what they have learned, which is unfair to them. Assessments must also match with standards and criteria that a teacher has to teach. It is also important when lesson and unit planning to be able to see where the information you are teaching will be assessed.
